THE BP OIL SPILL

BP OIL SPILL

On April 20, 2010, BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, sank and leaked millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf. This disaster killed 11 men, injured many others and resulted in the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Since that day, the attorneys of Cossich, Sumich, Parsiola & Taylor, LLC, have been working with affected Gulf Coast citizens whose lives and livelihoods were damaged.

In May 2012, the US Eastern District Court of Louisiana approved a settlement between BP and the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee, in the litigation concerning the Deepwater Horizon. While this settlement greatly expands the quantity and types of businesses that can file a claim, the following industries suffered great loss due to the oil spill and should be actively involved in the litigation:

Oyster Leaseholders
Shrimp Boat Owners
Shrimp Boat Captains
Finfish or Crab Boat Owners
Other Seafood Vessel Owners
Fishing/Crabbing Boat Owners
Seafood Processors
Coastal Wetlands Property Owners
Tourism and Charter Fishing Businesses
Seafood Boat Workers
Seafood Dealers
